Venice, the lagoon city on the Adriatic Sea, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world. The historic center of Venice is located on more than a hundred islands, between which pass the famous canals, a total of more than channels with almost bridges. Italy is a hugely popular destination for travellers from all around the world, and gay travellers will feel safe and welcomed in most parts of the country. There are many different clubs, saunas, festivals and neighbourhoods that come together to make up gay Italy. On the whole, Italy is a safe, welcoming country for gay travellers to visit. However, in smaller towns in the more rural areas, gay couples may want to reduce public displays of affection, as it may be more likely to attract negative attention.
In fact, we found that the nightlife scene here is very relaxed, easy going and involves having many Aperols which we love. Venice is a super romantic city and we found that it was a great option for us visiting as a gay couple. Whilst there is no gay bars on the archipelago of Venice, which is where you will likely stay and explore, there are options nearby. Venice is an incredible destination and it felt very gay friendly.
