We all know it anyway. Acceptance of homosexual and bisexual sports stars — even in hyper-masculine football — is becoming more commonplace, however, and if you need proof, just look at the Super Bowl. Queer people have been scoring big for visibility at the big game for the past few years, a trend that we hope continues at Super Bowl LVI on February 13 and well into the future. Let's face it: Super Bowl XIV wasn't the queerest event on the cultural calendar — though a surprise pre-show performance by Lady Gaga and a bold halftime show from Kendrick Lamar with help from SZA and a dancing Serena Williams did add some pride to the proceedings.
