name of gay bar in police academy

The producers of Police Academy may have chosen that name for their gay bar simply because of its association with male virility. Just a wild guess on my part though. The Blue Oyster is a fictional bar, and the setting of a recurring gag-scene of the comedy film series Police Academy. Within the Police Academy film series, unsuspecting characters periodically enter the bar unaware of its nature. Once inside, a group of patrons are depicted as leering towards the police officers and ready to force the frightened victims to dance with them, invariably to a tango called "El Bimbo", a hit from Bimbo Jet. In " Sex and the Biddy ", Hazel sends Rallo to The Blue Oyster by giving him the wrong address to the wedding between her and Rallo's friend Murray when he attempts to break them up after he finds out that Hazel is just after Murray's money.
The Blue Oyster Bar is a fictional gay bar, originally located in Howell before moving to Cowan Ave. by Proctor. In a recurring gag, gay men in black leather outfits dance with each other, and they're always near the entrances watching for unsuspecting men to enter so they could dance with them - including police officers. Its outside appearance is noticeable by its blue awning and doors.
