The Cadillac served as a social center for much of the Binghamton Gay Liberation Group, a group that consisted heavily of Binghamton University students. Binghamton community member John Cramer shared memories of hanging out outside the Cadillac before he was old enough to go inside.

Binghamton, New York is a friendly, progressive, and diverse city situated where the Susquehanna and Chenango Rivers meet. It is home to Binghamton University as well as many businesses and corporations, in addition to having a thriving arts and culture scene. It is also a city full of walkable streets and friendly neighborhoods, and no shortage of friendly people, including a vibrant LGBTQ community. It was ultimately named after Philadelphia native William Bingham, who was a Pennsylvania delegate to the Continental Congress, and a major land speculator.
